For the CES 2020 show in Las Vegas, Dell is showcasing a new high-end Dell XPS 13 laptop with a virtually borderless InfinityEdge display and 10nm Intel Ice Lake processor.

Dell was the first manufacturer to reduce side screen borders on an ultraportable, in this case, the XPS 13. Then it was the top line's turn to be planed.

Finally, the Texan manufacturer will be the first to succeed in the feat of reducing the wide black band at the bottom of a 13.4-inch slab to a thin edging. And it's beautiful.

A screen that leaves you speechless

Still available in black (first) and white (second), the Dell XPS 13 cru 2020 is now available in both black and white, which means that its display is improved in both form and substance.

With the lower black stripe almost gone, Dell's 13.4-inch screen changes to a 16:10 aspect ratio to offer a slightly unusual screen resolution such as Full HD+ (1920 by 1200 pixels) or 4K+ (3840 by 2400).

All Full HD+ machines will be equipped with a conventional or touch screen; in 4K+, no choice, the touch screen will necessarily be used.

On the technical and compatibility side, Dell certifies that the tiles offer a brightness of 500 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 1800:1 for FHD+ versus 1500:1 for 4K+.

The non-touch versions will be matte in appearance and the others will be treated against reflections and fingerprints. In addition, HDR 400 compatibility and 100% sRGB range coverage will be ensured on all models. In addition, the XPS 13 4K+ will be DCI-P3 certified (90%).

Up to 19 hours of autonomy in perspective

Inside the magnesium alloy, aluminum and carbon fiber case, Dell retains the components that equip today's fleet of ultraportable laptops.

These are 10th generation Intel Core processors (Ice Lake i3-G1, i5-G1, and i7-G7), LPDDR4 (4GB) or LPDDR4x (8-32GB) memory welded to the motherboard, and storage capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB.

Connections are always limited to 2 Thunderbolt 3 sockets (USB Type-C), a headset/microphone combo and a microSD card reader. Dell specifies that a USBC/USB adapter will be delivered as standard with the machine.

For connections to the Web, Wi-Fi is mandatory with two Wi-Fi 6 modules proposed in the configurator (Killer AX 1650 in Intel or AX500-DBS in Qualcomm), Bluetooth 5 compatible.
